B&Q awarded for its commitment to employee engagement
The British retailer and DIY supplier has been recognised for its employee engagement strategy. B&Q won two prizes for its campaign ‘Transforming B&Q’ – Best Single Campaign and Best Strategy at the Institute of Internal Communication awards ceremony.
The campaign was designed to improve employee engagement and drive better business performance. B&Q demonstrated how it looked to its employees in order to re-define its Purpose and Values. It also introduced a new set of Customer Promises in 2009, which aims to achieve a target of £300 million profit and a share price of 300p by 2012.
Liz Bell, HR Director, B&Q, comments: “This is a fantastic achievement for our Internal Communications team, which has worked tirelessly to improve the levels of engagement we have with our 30,000 employees in stores and at our Store Support Office. We have seen some fantastic results already in terms of the feedback from our colleagues and positive financial results so these awards go a long way to reinforcing that we are doing the right thing.”
B&Q was also awarded the Gallup Great Workplace award earlier this year for the fourth consecutive time.
