Involve staff in 'strategic decisions' to boost employee engagement
Companies looking to improve employee engagement may find involving workers in strategic decisions effective.
Most employees begin a new job with an "eager and enthusiastic" attitude and want to help the firm succeed, according to the Forum of Private Business (FPB).
However, the UK based organisation warns that employee engagement levels may suffer if staff feel they have no input into the way the business in run.
Phil McCabe, spokesman for the FPB, advised: "If an organisation can spare the time to invite its staff to help shape strategy, it should do so. Many of our members can attest to the value of involving staff in the strategic decision-making process."
A strategic review into employee engagement headed up by David Macleod, author of the Macleod report commissioned by the UK government is due to report its findings next year.
