Young women more engaged than young men
Women in the gen Y category are most likely to exhibit the highest levels of employee engagement.
A study from Equiniti found that in a sample taken from across small, medium and large firms, 56 per cent of women were likely to think of themselves as loyal to their company.
This is compared with the 42 per cent of male participants who consider the same. Employees working in the media, travel and leisure industries were also found to feel the strongest sense of employee engagement.
Equiniti's chief executive Wayne Story said that participating in an employee share plan also helps to make women even more loyal to their company, coming in three times higher than the results from men in the same position.
Meanwhile, workers aged 41 to 50 were found to feel the least amount of loyalty to their company.
An earlier study from the Hay Group found that UK workers had the lowest levels of employee engagement of any European nation.
