London Olympics a ‘Once in a Lifetime’ Employee Engagement Opportunity

New employee engagement survey reveals the reality of UK plc plans to use the prospect of the London 2012 Olympic Games to inspire and motivate staff. |
Business performance consultancy, 121partners, has released new findings which reveal that over 85 per cent of organisations have no current plans for using the prospect of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games to engage their staff and inspire them to achieve peak performance. However, over 85 per cent expect to develop plans in this area over the next twelve months.
These findings resulted from a survey of business and HR leaders from major UK based organisations who attended a ‘peak performance’ seminar held in partnership with BT, the official communications services partner for the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games.
The seminar, held at the BT Tower, featured an impressive array of Olympic medallists, Olympic coaches and business leaders. Nigel Perks, the chief human-resources officer at BT Global Services, is using BT’s status as the official communications services partner for the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games to motivate employees. “It’s about building up pride and making sure people understand we are an integral part of one of the biggest events in the world,” he said
John Blakey, co-founder of 121partners, said “We have been using the theme of Olympic sport in our work with UK plc’s since our formation in 2004. We are helping many organisations create tailored development programmes for leaders and their teams which incorporate a strong Olympic theme in preparation for London 2012."
